6th Biennial Meeting
February 23-26, 2017
Hannover, Germany

Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to Hannover to celebrate the 6th Biennial Meeting of the International Society for Intraoperative Imaging.

Hannover is the state capital of lower Saxony and offers a rich environment of history, art, industry, science and high level medical education in the middle of Germany. Famous for the trade and technology fairs, Hannover, with its two universities, the Medical School (MHH) and the Leibniz University, has built a reputation of excellence in medicine and technology.

I thank the board for choosing this perfect background to host the 6th biennial meeting of our society, which marks the coming of age of the IOIS. Since its founding 10 years ago in Lake Tahoe, IOIS was held in Istanbul, Zurich, St. Louis, and Delhi. Intraoperative Imaging was confined to believers and heavily contested. Meanwhile we are looking into a rapidly expanding field. New methods and refinements to iMRI, iCT and iUS will form the core of this conference. However, within the concept of combining imaging and therapy, new avenues, such as MR-guided Focused Ultrasound, or rediscovered ones like Interstitial Laser therapy have reached clinical application. Also, enlarging the functionality of the microscope has opened promising routes employing the full spectrum of light (fluorescence-guidance, spectral imaging etc.). Introducing cutting-edge technology into the OR to benefit our patients, the IOIS represents a truly interdisciplinary effort, bringing neurosurgeon´s, neuroradiologists, neuroscientists and biomedical engineers together. Experts in the fields will present the respective methods, and show their current status and potential.

The combination of introductory lectures, sessions with dedicated topics and free papers will provide in depth coverage of complex issues as well as a display of the breadth of clinical applications.

The invited lectures by outstanding leaders in the field will be covering the development of intraoperative Imaging, basic research in tumor invasion, robotics and brain-machine interfaces.

This promises to be an exciting meeting full of discussion, controversy, innovation and friendship.

We look forward to seeing you in Hannover!

Yours sincerely,
